Welcome to AFSCME Local 1891, Evanston City Employee’s Union. You are now a member of one of the most progressive Unions in the country with councils and locals across the United States. Our goal is to create an environment of Fair and Equitable Treatment To The Best Of Our Ability.
AFSCME has represented this local since 1969 and started with a total of 107 employees’. The local is now the size of 400+ strong union members. The local represents members in 147 different full-time and part-time classifications within Blue Collar, Non-Professional and Professional units. We negotiate wages, hours, working conditions, as well as, represent our members in grievance and disciplinary meetings.
AFSCME Local 1891 holds membership meetings the second Wednesday of every odd numbered month (ie. September(9/10/2008)), at 5:15 p.m. in the meeting hall located at 2010 Dewey Ave., Evanston, IL. 60201 in the lower level. In order to enter the union hall, you must be a member in good standing. A member in good standing means, full union dues paying member and not fairshare. The union represents the views of the members, and the best way to have your views heard is to be a FULL PARTICIPATING MEMBER.
